JUSTICE AND PEACE/CAFOD

The aim of the group is:

To raise awareness about the injustices suffered by those who are less fortunate than we are.

Motivate other people in our parish to work towards changing situations that are unjust.

To raise money to help those who are suffering.

The methods we use are prayer, study and action We pray to change our own and other's mind set and habits, so that we are more able to empathise with the poor.

By becoming better informed about injustice we seek to be able to be advocates for the poor

Activities we have supported in the last few years include. The Jubilee Campaign for the removal of third world debt; and the movement to promote fair trade.

We have also raised, through the parish, a huge amount of money to help finance Cafod projects.

Meetings are held on the first Sunday of the month at 7.30 pm in St bede's Presbytery. New members are always welcome, for further information e-mail to

MEDJUGORJE PRAYER GROUP

We are inspired by Our Lady;s appearance at Medjugorje in Bosnia- Herzegovina ( part of the former Yugoslavia).

We aim to foster and encourage prayer and devotion to Our Lady and to the Sacred Heart. We pray ,most of all for peace, but also for conversions to the faith and for private intentions.

We meet after evening mass in St Godric's on the second Sunday of each month, in the St John Boste room. The group is open to all, and everyone is welcome. For more information

PASS IT ON

"The Church exists to evangelize. It is our deepest identity "

                                (Pope Paul V1)

The Pass It On group was formed in response to Sr Michael's visit to our parish when she shared with us Michelle Moran,s " Pass It On " evangelization programme. A dozen parishioners meet monthly to pray together and discern a way forward.

A recent service focusing on bereavement and loss has led to the development of a programme which will enable us to support the bereaved in our parish family

Another service, to which the reception class of St Godrics RC School was invited, was aimed at welcoming the children into the parish and strengthening links between the parish and the school.

We extend a warm welcome to anyone interested in sharing their faith:

TEAMS OF OUR LADY

An International Movement for

Christian Married Couples

The Movement began in Paris, in 1939, when a group of young couples asked their priest to help them explore the deeper meaning of Christian marriage.

They chose the title "Teams of Our Lady" because the first groups had been established in a parish dedicated to Our Lady, and because each group was likened to team that works closely together.

Today it is an international movement, with more than 100,000 members in more than 60 countries. A group of four to six couples, known as a team, meet together once a month. Although it is a lay movement, each team seeks the help of a spiritual counselor

They are ordinary couples, who are interested in strengthening their marriage and learning a little more about their faith. The movement encourages them to be a true Christian community and to help and support one another. A community that in many cases included mixed faith marriages.
